Re: Bowersock WW Park

Yes, talk has gone on for a number of years. Chances are decent this time for a couple of reasons. Lawrence is in an ongoing process of development, with a lot of focus on the river as a destination or place to live. There is currently a huge project in planning that may or may not happen; the propo...

Clinton Lake WW Park Update

Both the State of Kansas and Lawrence are short on cash. Public may not be behind it as taxes, utilities, etc. keep rising yearly.

Re: Lots of rain on the forecast

I am in for Mill if it goes off big. Is the Stormwatch gauge down? If so, the other Mill gauge has a lag of about 2 hours. Mill and Indian are somewhat correlated depending on rainfall amounts and intensites over their respective watersheds. Also interested in Indian over 9 feet and Fords Hole park ...

Kaw 435 Parking

New twist on the messed up parking for Kaw 435. Over the last year or so, we have been parking at the gas station; always check inside to make sure it is ok. This time the clerk wanted $5, which they are now charging the fishermen as well. If the paper they give you is not sitting on your dash -- th...

Re: Kaw 435 Gauge

Thanks Dave for getting me to think on this one. You are right we do see the backwater come up from the Missouri River when its flow is high.

Just spoke with one of the stream gauging Scientists at USGS. He stated that the stream gauge is located abpve tjhe dam. So I am thinking we are good to go.

Re: Waka at 1000cfs

Waka was back to the new normal at 1000cfs. Hit it for about an hour with good surfs and spins. Fast and fun; sticky in the sweet spot but still tries to push you out toward the tongue. Similar to the last 1000cfs release in September 2015. Did have icing due to a strong north wind and air temp. Be ...

Re: Waka at 1000cfs

Hitting Waka today around 1200 noon or 1pm. Scouting report from this morning. 1. Backwater is high due to runoff. 2. Sweet spot is about 6 feet wide on south side. 3. Has turned into a flat wave with very little hole like character. 4. Green water has decent but not super fast speed coming into the...

Waka at 1000cfs

Waka wave currently releasing at 1000cfs. For you hardy cold water boaters go on out and get some.

Reminder about the dangers of cold water boating, swims, and hypothermia. And the cold water gasp reflex.

I prefer the message board. There are a significant number of folks who will never join Facebook. This is the nature of technology and change, as well as the knowledge that goes along with it.

Re: Kaw 435 Gauge

Thanks for making the change. I am probably not the one to define opto levels; for me opto at Kaw is about 24,000cfs, if it still acts the same,

Kaw 435 Gauge

I didn't even know this gauge existed -- looks like it is right there at Kaw 435. http://waterdata.usgs.gov/ks/nwis/uv/?site_no=06892518&PARAmeter_cd=00065,00060 This will give us better real time correlation of the level rather than estimating based on the De Soto gauge located about 6 hours upstre...
