Tryst/Crystal Gauge Threatened

USGS Fishing River gauge has a notice saying it may be shut off due to lack of funding: https://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?06894200 This is our gauge for Tryst Falls and also now for Crystal Spillway. Any way we can save this one? ACC has adopted some gauges, but not sure if this will be a priority ...

Thomas Creek Highlights

Ran this one this year down in NW Arkansas. It was first run back in 1988, but as far as we know, hasn't been run since. Hope this gets everyone fired up for some creekin this fall!

Re: New to KS, looking for paddlers...

ozarkpages.com has some good info on AR ozark runs. Old crappy web site, but look around and there's a lot of good info. This is particularly helpful: http://www.ozarkpages.com/cgi-bin/stages.pl?ST=level We're in the summer now, but it's been a wet one (record rainfall in May / June) so it's possibl...

Re: ARKansas gots the goods this week

Looks like the best May on record for whitewater in the Arkansas Ozarks is finally winding down. Andy and I got the Mulberry and Frog rivers for a warmup - beautiful weather and great playboating! Then the next weekend, we bagged a solid level on Little Mill Cr., White Rock Cr., and Stepp Cr. - thre...

Re: Indian Creek?

If you're looking for a weekend getaway that's not too far and very dependable, check out the Siloam Springs Whitewater Park in NW Arkansas. About 3.5 hrs drive from KC metro, very beginner friendly, clean water, super fun park-n-play rapids. Lots of tubers on weekends, but not if you go early or la...

Re: ARKansas gots the goods this week

If you missed the last one (or two), go get you some in Arkansas this holiday weekend. Levels are pumped. Two weekends ago was epic flood in which micro-steep creeks were run (we ran White Rock Cr. and Horsehead Cr was run too, and we also got Stepp Cr the same day!). Last weekend south AR went off ...

Re: Carbon boat class???

I'm quite interested, but haven't got tons of free time. How many hours/days do you think it'll take to finish out a boat?

ARKansas gots the goods this week

Levels are good down in AR, have been that way for a while, and the forecast looks like rain through Monday morning. I'm likely gonna head down to catch some water, leaving Friday, back on Sunday night. 100% chance of Mulberry, Piney, Frog, Cossatot, etc. Damn good chance of Richland. Reasonable cha...

I'm so Bluuuuue....

Been having an out-of-boat experience for several months. Scary stuff. Anyone thinking the Blue and/or Indian will rise and heading that way?

Re: River Users Should Know Their Rights

Two rules to live by: 1) the law is what a judge interprets it to be, and 2) you may be right, but you can't outrun a bullet. Applying those two rules of thumb, trying to press your paddler access rights at the wrong time with the wrong person can be a bad idea. I always advise picking your battles ...
