Re: Charles City Whitewater Park on May 31, 2014

Just an opininion. Was there at 1600cfs and the middle feature (Doc's Drop) was an absolute blast! Some areas of the feature were so sticky you could not get out of it, even when upside down. Either roll up or swim were the options. It was possible to work on getting out of the sticky areas and over...

Kaw / 435 Parking Tickets

Heads Up! The City of Edwardsville has put up No Parking signs at our usual parking spot for Kaw / 435. Could be temporary since there are utility flags staked out. A fisherman told us how he got a $75 parking ticket for parking there. May be able to park across the street, but was not worth the cha...

Bowersock and Local

Looking forward to a big rain year for local whitewater. Remember 2010? That was a helluva year; Waka Wave ran at 1000cfs for a bunch of days. Mill Creek was going off regularly. We had huge water at Kaw; the best days were in the 10,000 to 31,000cfs range. Bowersock from last summer -- I put up thi...

Lots of water coming downstream at Kaw, 15,000 or so cfs. If the backwater is low enough (was out there friday, 10 feet lower backwater today) it should be a blast. Friday was lame because the backwater was so high (flow was 19,000, really good level when backwater low). This 15,000 is a great level...

Ok I should post a Bowersock update. Flows have really changed a lot at Bowersock due to the dam modifications for flow control. The north side powerplant is completely online and this is a summary of how the flow is controlled at the dam. Keep in mind that any flow going through the north side powe...
