I'm out. I've just had too much waiting for me at home when I've been on the road. Sorry.

Another great work day. The gravel crew completely covered the trail and then with the leftovers they graveled the upper trial. Great work crew. Bill and I tuckpointed the steps and added a few rock here and there to stabilize the banks next to the steps.
Thanks to everyone. Kevin, Marty Burke, Bill Sample, Monty, Brian, Jim Young and Roger Burgdorfer.

Even though I wasn't there, I just wanted to say thanks to all that were there today. I'm sure you did a great job putting your touch to the trail!

I'm curious how it stood up to the first round of rain it received? Round two and three tonight and tomorrow I think. Any signs of erosion?

Actually we only got .18 inches of rain so there wasn't any evidence of erosion at all.
Sorry for the poor quality of this image. I only had my camera phone.

Last night's rain

Postby Openboater » Sun Apr 02, 2006 11:09 am

I dropped by to check on the trail work after the rain last night. The new upper section had a gully right down the middle a few inches deep. There was also some erosion at the top of the lower trail. It looked like the water went across the trail slightly downhill from the french drain. The Clinton Lake office recorded 0.58" rain. Looks like there may be some maintenance involved with this project. The upper trail may eventually need a switch back to both control water and be fully accessible.

anyone interested in helping move the last load of AB-3 gravel in the morning, maybe getting your picture taken by the newspaper and then kayaking below the I-435 dam on the kaw in the afternoon?

Basketball tournament this weekend -- and next. I may be able to work Sunday morning if they don't advance.

I would love to, but I've got a buddy coming down from Nebraska. We will be wandering through tick and poison ivy infested woods in search of the elusive gobbler 8)
