KCKA & KWA partner for the Renzevous & wakarusa rele

Kansas Canoe and Kayak Association will be having their annual Rendezvous at Clinton lake this May 19-21st. The KWA has partnered with the KCKA this year to bring awareness to the Wakarusa Wave Park project. We will be showing off the new trail, and we have even secured a special release of water for the weekend. The KWA will be putting on a surfing clinic and all KWA members are invited to come out. here is the schedule.
8:30-9:30 Breakfast 9:00-1:00 Surf the Wakarusa Wave or Kaw (WW)
9AM- Get boats set up ready to go. 9:00-1:00 Float down the Wakarusa (FW)
9:30AM- Travel to the upper waters of Clinton Lake (FW)
10:00 put in at Rock Creek (R.J. Stephenson KCKA) (FW)
10:00-WW Clinic Intro to surfing (WW)
12:30-4:00 Surf the Wakarusa Wave (WW)
4:00-Gear exchange- Bring your old gear you want to sell or trade.
6:00- Dinner at camp
6:45- President Jim Johnson (news and notes)
7:00-Wakarusa Wave presentation (KWA Dave Irvin)
7:30-KCKA presentation (?????)
8:00-H2O Forum Bring us all together
Music
FW=flat water events
WW=Whitewater events

I think this a very cool idea, and definitely has the possibility to bring a huge group of paddlers together in one place. I don't think you can say that very often about an event in KS with regards to paddling.

If you've never witnessed TJ and Roger's guitar/harmonica performance, it's well worth the trip alone :D

just a question, is this posted under the KCKA board? Also, is KWA doing anything special besides helping with the surf clinic? Press Coverage?

The KCKA is working up a press release. We can work up one as well and I will do that after consulting the KCKA.

Camping will be at Clinton Lake State Park, not sure where yet.

KWA will be helping with surfing clinic and WAKA Wave presentation

Saturday, 20 May 2006, make the gate changes at 8am, 9am and at 10am reach the 1000cfs release by 10AM
Sunday, 21 May 2006, make the gate changes decreasing the release at 3pm, 4pm and 5pm.

So 10am Saturday until 4pm Sunday night.
