River Gauges

Postby KUKayaker » Sat Jan 14, 2017 5:26 pm

I fixed the river gauges which I guess broke when USGS updated their gauges. I don't know if there's a new St. Francis gauge so if someone can find that link, let me know.

As for the streamwatch, they updated their systems last summer I believe and unfortunately I can't programmatically pull from their site due to how it's configured.

The gauge on the Little Saint Francis will show what is happening in the water shed. The gauge is at Fredricktown.

https://waterdata.usgs.gov/mo/nwis/uv?site_no=07035000

Looks like it peaked at 2,000 CFS early morning of Jan 17, 2017, corresponding to 8.5 feet on the gauge.
The typical lame reading is around 2.8 to 3 feet and less than 100 cfs.

Here is the page with all the USGS gauges in Missouri. Click on a dot on the map to get the page for that gauge.
There are other states available.

That's the guage I set it to but I believe it's a new gauge so we'll probably have to recalibrate the low, good, flood levels.

Please consider revising the HTML code that generates the gauges page.
http://www.kansaswhitewater.org/RiverGauges.php
On the listing for Saint Francis the height is clickable but it goes to this page;
https://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv/?site_no=07034000
It is an error page (No data were found using your search criteria) and the URL for the old Roselle gauge that no longer exists.

Maybe this discussion can be where boaters post a description of the Saint Francis along with readings from the Little Saint Francis gauge.

With enough postings we can revise the low, good, flood levels.

I've fixed the images on the gauge page to show the graphs.
